The Friends

The Senior Center

The HCOA

The ‘Friends’ is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization of volunteers assisting the HCOA with its Mission.

We provide financial support for several programs offered at the Senior Center as well as purchasing supplies and other furnishings as needed.

We support the monthly Newsletter through preparing them for mailing and paying a portion of the postage expense.

We also provide volunteers that bake all the offerings of the Morning Glory Cafe.

Located at 1130 Main St, Holden MA, the Senior Center is the HUB for Administrative, Outreach Services, and Programming activities for all Seniors.

For elders, quality of life is often related to the quality and continuity of relationships. The Senior Center provides a welcoming destination that accepts you regardless of financial status, race, creed, medical condition, or mobility. Seniors are able to meet like minded individuals in a safe environment. They can meet old friends or foster new friendships. In addition to the social impact, the Senior Center is a resource center. This is the only social service agency in town where seniors can find nutritional, physical, and educational activities created to assist a diverse demand of elderly needs and interests while attempting to foster independence and community interaction.

The Holden Council on Aging is the town department overseeing the operation of the Senior Center and services provided to all elderly citizens in Holden.

Currently, there are over 6,000 elderly.  This is the fastest-growing population in town and will be steadily increasing over the next 20 years.  It is the responsibility of the HCOA to advocate the necessity of improving services to these services citizens who have been supporting the town budget their entire life.
